The
musical style this group makes us discover is characteristic of the opposition of two different repertoires: One reflects clearly native music, thousands of years old, a music passed on generation to generation where the pentatonic scale predominates. A music which knows how to stay entirely pure in spite of external influence. It is still alive and for a few years its presence is asserting itself further, to the Andean audience and beyond its borders as an integral part of the Andean identity. The traditional instruments are: Sikus, Tarkas, Pinquillos, Muxenos, Wancaras, etc. |
The
second repertoire is the movement which springs from the meeting of
the two with external rhythms and instruments:Guitar,
base guitar, percussion, keyboard, bandoneon, saxophone… The musical trend is established in small towns and develops more in big towns. It takes on several names: Urban Music, Criolla, Proyeccion, Andean Fusion. This blend, enriched by the chromatic scale, allows new musical forms, opens new horizons where the musician gives free rein to its creativity. |
| MACHAQA is supported by the long experience acquired by its musicians in Bolivia and in Europe since 1977. It insists on being a worthy Andean music representative |
